The show then came to a close with “Killing in the Name,” with song’s refrain of “Fuck you I won’t do what you tell me!” serving as a rallying cry for all fans to rage with the band one more time. The crowd responded in kind, as the entire audience screamed along with the lyrics and thrashed around with their middle fingers in the sky. When the show ended and the lights were turned on, there wasn’t a single person in the room who wasn’t dripping in sweat, and every fan left the venue with huge smiles on their faces, in disbelief at the incredible show they’d just witnessed.Check out more videos of this amazing show below, and also check here for information on their recently-announced tour, bringing the band to arenas and amphitheatres this Fall.“Fight The Power”/”No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn” (courtesy of themeboudin/youtube)“Testify” (courtesy of Sub-Culture Presents/youtube)“Know Your Enemy” -> “The Party’s Over”(courtesy of danimal710/youtube)“Killing in the Name” (courtesy of themeboudin/youtube)“(Rock) Superstar” The rest of the set featured P.E.’s “Shut ‘Em Down,” a Rage-ified cover of Cypress Hill’s “How I Could Just Kill A Man,” and Rage’s “Know Your Enemy” and “Bullet In Your Head.” The Prophets also played their lone new song, called “The Party’s Over.” The end of the show saw the Prophets returning to Rage Against The Machine’s strongest material, as the show’s finale began with a charged-up version of “Bulls on Parade.” Prophets of Rage played an incredible, earth-shattering last-minute show last night in Brooklyn. The supergroup, made up of Tom Morello, Tim Commerford, and Brad Wilk of Rage Against The Machine, Chuck D. and DJ Lord of Public Enemy, and B-Real of Cypress Hill, were set to bring their new project to Governor’s Ball for a quick 30 minute surprise set on Sunday when weather cancelled the day. Within one hour of its cancellation, Morello tweeted his battle cry to the world, announcing that “NOTHING can stop” Prophets of Rage from playing in NYC, and to stay tuned for more information. After the first two songs, the crowd was ready to explode with anticipation, and the band met their excitement with the opening shuffle of “Guerilla Radio”. The rest of the first set was filled with Rage classics like “Bombtrack”, “People of the Sun”, and “Take The Power Back”, P.E.’s “Miuzi Weighs A Ton” and Cypress Hill’s “(Rock) Superstar.” The Prophets closed out the set with an exciting “Testify”, after which they left the stage for a short break.During this break, Chuck D., B-Real, and DJ Lord ran through a hip hop medley, performing parts of Cypress Hill favorites “Hand On the Pump,” “Insane in the Brain,” and “I Ain’t Goin’ Out Like That,” as well as Public Enemy classics “Bring The Noise,” “Welcome to the Terrordome” and “Can’t Truss It.”After this 15 minute hip hop break, Prophets of Rage returned to the stage for the show’s final segment with a raucous “Sleep Now in the Fire”, sending the crowd into a moshing frenzy. An hour later, the official word came that the band would be playing the intimate Greenpoint venue Warsaw, and that all proceeds from the concert would benefit the charitable organization WhyHunger. Fans quickly flocked to the Polish/Punk space to line up for tickets, and within an hour the line stretched around a full city block. At 5pm, fans were able to purchase one wristband-per-person ($20 per wristband, $10 with a Gov Ball wristband on), and staff members wearing “Make America Rage Again” hats told fans to return for doors at 8pm to avoid the approaching rainfall. After the massive downpour passed, returning concert-goers were lucky to witness an equally-massive full rainbow floating over Greenpoint that seemed to lead directly to Warsaw. Fans surely found their pot of gold, as Prophets of Rage would blow the roof off the venue with a high energy, politically charged show that featured huge hits, awesome covers, and a band that seemed ready to take over the world.Taking the stage at 9:05pm after a warmup set of Hip Hop classics from DJ Lord, Prophets of Rage wasted no time getting down, opening the show with a funky mashup of Public Enemy’s “Fight The Power” and Beastie Boys‘ aptly titled “No Sleep ‘Til Brooklyn.” The Prophets then played the song that gave the project its name, P.E.’s “Prophets Of Rage”, and really set the crowd off with its fun new metal-esque arrangement.
AUBREY BRUCE The Minnesota Vikings, including their latest representative from Valhalla, quarterback Brett Favre, rowed into Pittsburgh with their “longships” and almost totally “looted” the Pittsburgh Steelers of their dignity.See folks, it is easy for any professional football team to look crisp against wet noodles, like the Detroit Lions (who by the way were just a play or two away from beating Pittsburgh at Ford Field) and the hapless, almost hopeless Cleveland Browns who more often than not, beat up on themselves. When the Steeler defense gave up game winning drives against the Chicago Bears and the Cincinnati Bengals almost everyone placed the albatross of blame on the shoulders of the Pittsburgh “D” and the absence of Troy Polamalu. The Steelers nation and the talking heads bellowed from all points on the earth, “If Troy were in there they wouldn’t have thrown the ball with as much success, especially on late game winning drives.”Well, Troy was in there yesterday and was spotted trailing a play or two after a completion by Mr. Favre. Whose fault was it? I’ll tell you after I watch the films but it don’t look good for the Steelers resident heartthrob.Polamalu cannot help the offense of the Black and Gold. That’s my story and I’m stickin to it. Prior to his anemic performance against the “Purple People Eaters” the crows on the fence were cackling about Big Ben leading the league in passing yardage, ignoring the obvious that his stats were sort of padded as a result of competing against suspect competition. On the first three drives of the game, Pittsburgh started on their own 27, the Minnesota 49 and 39 yard line. The result was punt, punt, field goal. However, the Vikings never started a drive past their own 37 yard line during the entire game yet still managed to accumulate 386 yards of offense compared to the collegiate-like numbers that Big Ben and his offensive crew could muster. The Pittsburgh defense was on the field almost 14 additional minutes more than the Minnesota defense. That number represents almost an entire quarter more that the “Purple People Eaters” were allotted to sip on mint juleps and go over their defensive strategy. The Steelers defense could not get off of the field because the Pittsburgh offense could not stay on the field. That being said, if the defense was not on the field to score twice, Minnesota may have left Pittsburgh still undefeated. The achilles heel of the Steelers was their offense, plain and simple. The defense played as if they were paying rent at Heinz Field while the offense performed as if they were squatters. The “D” was on the field for so long, I thought that they were going to pitch a few tents, crank up the campfire and roast marshmallows, weenies and break out into a few scary stories. Big Ben and his cronies did not earn their keep against the “Vikes.” Good offenses perform well against good and bad opponents. Carson Palmer and the Bengals crushed the Bears 45-10 on Sunday. By the way, this was the same Chicago team that Pittsburgh could only muster up 14 points against losing in a last ditch effort by the score of 17-14, despite the Bears being without their leader and arguably best defensive player, linebacker. The blame for the loss to Chicago was put on Jeff Reed missing two field goals and the defense, but the reason that Reed missed the two 3-pointers was because the offense failed to score two touchdowns. See boys and girls, this is how it works. You attempt a field goal only after you fail to score a touchdown. A field goal is sort of an obtuse, perverted way to reward failure. Sort of like giving your son or daughter half of their allowance for washing half of the dishes, ya get my drift?A few folks in the Black and Gold circles were dancing a jig when it was determined that starting corner Antoine Winfield would be inactive for the game against the Steelers. If Big Ben could only collect 153 net yards passing with Winfield on the bench, perish the thought of the dismal numbers they would have put up if Mr. Winfield would have played. If the past is an accurate indicator, the Steelers will not snap out of their point scoring funk Nov. 9, at the oxygen deprived confines of Invesco Field in the mile high city of Denver. After facing the Broncos, the Steelers will return to the Steel City faced with having to set a few snares and traps for the big cat Bengals who have now turned into nasty and notorious man-eating tigers. Pittsburgh will not get a break when they visit the Kansas City Chiefs (remember the Steelers barely beat the Lions at Ford Field). If Pittsburgh isn’t careful, what was billed as a 2009 cakewalk sort of schedule might end up as a pie in the face because teams that appeared as jokes on paper currently don’t appear to be in a court jester sort of mood.

Houston: President Donald Trump has praised the contributions of the influential and thriving Indian-American community in the country, saying he was “truly proud” to have them as Americans. President Trump lauded the role of the Indian diaspora in the US at the historic “Howdy, Modi!” event in Houston, Texas, as he addressed a record crowd of over 50,000 Indian-Americans who gathered at the NRG Stadium to welcome Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “Prime Minister Modi and I have come to Houston to celebrate everything that unites America and India — our shared dreams and bright futures,” he said on Sunday. You uphold our values. You uplift our communities. You are truly proud to be Americans and we are proud to have you as Americans. Trump, calling the gathering a “profoundly historic event,” was greeted with a standing ovation by the crowd. It is estimated that there are about 500,000 Indians in the jurisdiction of the Consulate General of India in Houston. The two largest concentrations are in Houston and Dallas and their suburbs which have approximately 150,000 Indians each. Trump pointed out that over the last two years, the unemployment rate among Indian-Americans dropped by nearly 33 1/3rd per cent. The president acknowledged that the Indian-American community was helping to strengthen the country. “Indian Americans are pioneering, groundbreaking medicines save countless lives. They are developing revolutionary technology that is changing the world and they are founding new businesses that provide jobs to thousands to our fellow citizens. Trump said along with Prime Minister Modi, he was looking forward to working with the Indian-American community to make the two countries even more prosperous than ever before. He noted that Indian companies employed tens of thousands of Americans across a range of industries in the US. Trump said his administration believes that it was “our first duty is ‘we must always be there for the American people’ whether it is African Americans, Hispanic-Americans or Indian-Americans. “We are going to take care of our citizens first, we are going to care of our Indian-Americans before we take care of illegal immigrants who want to pour into our country,” the president said. “America has always been a nation of pioneers and patriots, risk-takers and free thinkers and dedicated workers who have honed their trade, mastered their field, and teach their children to always give their very, very best. “Everyday, Indian-Americans help write this story of American greatness and everyone here today has a crucial part to play in building an even grander and greater American and Indian future. Houston is one of the most ethnically diverse cites in the US and according to media reports, oil-rich Texas is a must-win state for President Trump in the elections next year. On his part, Prime Minister Modi too gave tacit support for Trump’s 2020 re-election bid, saying ‘Abki Baar, Trump Sarkar”. “We in India have connected well with President Trump. The words of candidate Trump – Abki Baar Trump Sarkar rang loud and clear and his celebration in the White House lit up millions of faces with joy and appreciation,” Modi said. Modi’s pitch could help Trump in winning votes of the nearly four million Indian-Americans who have traditionally voted for the Democratic Party. “You can feel the strength and depth of human bonds between our two great nations. People are at the heart of all relationships from Houston to Hyderabad, from Boston to Bengaluru, from Chicago to Shimla, from Los Angeles to Ludhiana, from New Jersey to New Delhi,” Modi said. He noted that hundreds of millions were glued to their TV even across the world and they were witnessing history in the making. “Mr. President, you had introduced me to your family in 2017 and today I have the honour to introduce you to my family, over a billion Indians and people of Indian heritage around the globe,” the prime minister said as he introduced the US President at the “Howdy, Modi!” event. Soon after the gala event, an impressed Trump tweeted to say, “The USA loves India!” He described as “incredible” the electric atmosphere at the NRG arena in Houston.
